Flu Shot Season 2022-2023.

Richard H. Moeller Dec. 5, 2022

The flu shot season is upon us.  In a recent article at yahoo!news, the author discussed the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (the CDC) that people should be receiving the flu shot for the 2022-23 flu season now.

The CDC recognizes that with the benefits of the flu vaccine, there are also side effects.  Most are mild.  However, public health agencies of the federal government recognize that sometimes persons experience more severe injuries.  One of those is called SIRVA, which stands for Shoulder Injury Resulting from Vaccine Administration.  It is an injury to the shoulder where the shot is injected, and can be extremely painful, debilitating, and lead to long term problems.

Another uncommon but recognized condition caused by a flu shot is Guillain-Barré syndrome, or GBS.  This is a neurological disorder that can be life altering.

Both of these side effects of the seasonal flu shot are extremely rare but real.  Both conditions are covered by the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP), and listed on the Vaccine Injury Table.  When a person suffers an injury on the Vaccine Injury, they can make a claim to the VICP for compensation.  The lawyers at Vaccine Injury Pros file claims for persons hurt from flu shots and other vaccines.
